Presbyterians and the Middle East

Jim Roberts argues strenuously against the leadership of his church in today’s WSJ, urging it to abandon an earlier policy of divestment from Israel. The issue I find interesting here is not the policy issue or the financial issue, but the ecclesial one. Isn’t the Presbyterian church named for and characterized by its representative forms of governance? What does it mean when a Presbyterian says that his church is wrong?
